Fallow Deer

Southern Europe and Asia Minor (modern day Turkey)

Description:

Their coat varies in color. Main colors are white, black (two toned cocoa colored), Menial (spots on light brownish coat). Also the common are rusty with white spots. Males develop palms on antlers. The shape and size vary widely. Antlers 23 inches or longer with at least 3 1/2 inch palm width are above average and large measurements are 29 to 35 inches with 5 1/2 to 10 1/2 inch palm width. The antlers in a fallow deer are very impressive. Males weigh 175 - 200 pounds. in good condition and in the rut they will lose 20 to 50 pounds and average 153 pounds. Females weigh 55 to 100 pounds average being 82 pounds.
